Upgraded, looks, feels, runs, a whole lot better, well done to the guys at Topaz.

I am quite happy with the upgrade, especially the price.

Glad I saw this thread! I breezed right through the "free upgrade" part of the e-mail when I got it. All I saw was mention of "30% off," thinking that was the offer for the upgrade :)

Sweet, installed the upgrade. Major update, some great new presets and seems to run a lot smother. Color me impressed!

Maybe we need a new side challenge to take advantage of the new Topaz Adjust, and give us a place to show off our new creations.

Question??? Can we use "ALL" Topaz applications in Basic??? (bearing in mind NOT to use anything "selectively")

And even in Advanced can we use Clean/Detail???

It's not the tool, it's how you use it. If you are pushing the limits such that it completely looks like something else, then you are likely breaking the rules. But otherwise you should be go to go in both rule sets. Watch though, some of the features of the tool aren't valid in basic, such as vignette.

I use detail all the time, both in advanced and basic. I've used clean in advanced. I wouldn't use anything that creates a vignette in basic, nor would I use psychedelic in either. So, basically, I guess just use common sense.

I was noticing in the introduction to Adjust 5 that many of the presets are/should be illegal as you can individually move the sliders and IMO that is selective editing

I really wish SC would make a "clear" definition of what is and is not legal with Topaz...I know it gets a little gray in some areas...

I'm also very aware that anything with a vignette is illegal in basic...as that was one of my Dq's BEFORE I knew what a vignette was...NOW I'm very aware of it...

it is the use of Clean that I'm more curious about as it has a very......different look to the pictures...but it can really be sooooo cool

Also, bear in mind that this new Version 5 isn't really breaking much new ground as far as what you can DO with it goes, compared to v4: it's just that the INTERFACE is so much better, it brings it up to playing in a league that heretofore belonged only to Nik (and, to a degree, OnOne). Topaz first entered this realm with their B/W plugin, now adjust is following suit.

Moving a slider isn't selective. It works on the whole picture. It would only be selective if you actually selected a part of the image to apply it to.

That's not 100% true, Kelli: Everything in Adjust is controlled with sliders, but things like "vignette" are selectively applied to user-defined areas, by way of specifying what % of the image area the vignette covers and what shape it has.

Of course, but I meant the presets themselves. You can at least turn the vignettes off now.

Yeah, but you said "Moving a slider isn't selective" and someone might take that literally. It's what the slider (or any other toggle/valve/whatever) DOES that counts, not what it IS.

Elements 8 won't regonize it as a plug-in....I have tried Adjust4 and it installed with no problems. I tried to download the new Black & white adjust too---same problem---it did not show up as a plug-in in Elements 8.

is there anyone else out there having the same problem with their plug-ins as scooter97 and dagaleaa? I can't believe it but Scott PM'd me and I told him what to do and it worked...shock of all time...so if anyone else is having problems with the filters/plug-ins...PM me and I'll send you the steps...

my son-in-law had said it's quite convoluted but it works and that's all I care about....

What is wild about these two shots is that you can see the difference in the thumbnails! I have to admit, the difference between the two shots is pretty impressive, without looking overprocessed.

I never used Adjust 4 that much. I always found that I could achieve better results with Detail, but now Adjust 5 is so much more than previous versions and I look forward to seeing what the possibilities are when applied to my workflow.

The trend going forward will be for Topaz to incorporate more of their various plug-in technology into Adjust (perhaps renamed), getting everything under one roof as it were. I wouldn't be surprised to see a stoked up Adjust replace the entire bundle someday.

Question for you Mac users:

The latest Topaz interface is very "Windows-like", but is of course perfectly functional either way. Would you prefer a more neutral look (as with Adobe, onOne and Nik), or does it not matter to you?
