Corporate chess is always interesting to watch. I'm in two minds as to whether the perpetual format wars drive innovation or stifle it. Perhaps it's an equilibrium.

It certainly is interesting to watch. It's not always good, and not always bad. It's just the way that technology progresses in a free market. Think of it as natural selection for software and hardware :-)
