Is langdon on vacation? I sent him an administrative ticket on November 2nd. I have received an auto message quoting my ticket but no response. On the 5th, I replied to the auto email and still not answer.

He is buried under the great Movember challenge...either that or he slept in!

I think that he is around...lurking and laughing. He is probably laughing at how yet another challenge has been given more than a week deadline and screwing with WPL again.
You would think that if he can't at least acknowledge the numerous requests for DPL then he would appreciate the efforts that have gone into WPL and stop messing with it. The Movember challenge is the third time that a challenge has been scheduled for more than a week during this WPL season. I can't remember the last time that this has happened before WPL.

Hmm. I've contacted him... twice or three times. Once he took three months (or more I think) to get back to me. Another time like half a day... so he'll get back to you when he does!
I have to send him another message, come to think on it (another Niall-branded DPC-product should be coming out soon and I guess one of these days I should pre-empt the "did you ask permission?" question this time)

I got a comment from him recently, to the best of my knowledge only the 2nd ever comment from the Great One ;-) So he's alive, probably just AWOL. Guess he's allowed to be, as to my untutored eye this site has a lot of things to deal with, but SC helps bear the brunt to some extent...? |

Just out of curiosity, has it occurred to you that maybe WPL messed with LANGDON's plans to schedule more multi-week challenges? 'Cuz certainly that's one of the changes that's often been requested over the years I've been here; more challenges that have a longer time span in which to prepare and shoot. Poor guy can't win for trying, is how it looks to me...

Maybe he has come to the southern hemisphere to see what challenges he can create that exclude the Northern Hemisphere members. About time I say!

Communication is simple these days and doesn't require much effort. IF he responded to the numerous requests for DPL, and IF he communicated that he was giving those who asked for longer time periods what they asked for then there would be no question about what his intentions are.
His lack of response to requests and the scheduling of three longer than usual challenges during the WPL tends to make me wonder if he is careless in his choices or if they were carefully considered. I don't think that you really know which unless he has communicated with you.
edit to add: I'll answer your question:

No, it didn't occur to me. I wasn't aware that he was considering it. He didn't mention that he was. He didn't make any announcement about like he used to do in the upper left corner of the homepage. Again, lack of communication.
And, I don't think that he is a "Poor guy" who "can't win for trying". I think that he is winning just fine for himself while riding this website on autopilot and doing little if anything himself. He seems to be collecting membership fees and advertisement income while having a crew of site council members do much of his work for him for free. So, I would think that he would have the time to respond to requests every now and then and communicate with the membership.
I've said all this several times in the last couple of months without any reply from him. It seems like I am a solo broken record so I'm done bringing it up.

Maybe the Site Council is holding him hostage, they haven't posted anything. :)

langdon and I have communicated several times, he even invited me into a site council thread for input on the DPL. I think he cares about the site and the users. I just don't know the answer to his absence.

Since it's only been 4 days, I wouldn't read too much into it just yet. Langdon is usually pretty good at responding and always does, but it usually takes a couple of days and remember, he now had a child (didn't they have a little girl), so who knows...maybe kiddo stuff, maybe vacation, maybe family and he does work outside of DPC...I'm sure he'll respond. :) |
