So I plan on doing a little trip in the near future..

NY --> Barcelona (11 hours stopover) -- > Israel (7 days) --> Paris (11 hour stopover) --> NY
(That's the plan as of now)

But! ever since I got my D50 I have been slowly adding new equipment to my collection and have been carrying everything around in my north face hiking backpack with some foam protecting the goods.

I just purchased the Lowepro Pro Runner 350 AW and i'm not sure what I think about it. I need to bring a bag with me that I can carry not only my gear + tripod/gorilla pod + laptop as well as a change of clothing and other necessities. The Barcelona and Paris portions are going to be 11 hour stop overs without access to my luggage.

Any recommendations?

Welcome to the quest for the Holy Grail. Since you won't need your clothing, I'd stick to just a carryon bag for your gear. Check the rest.

The laptop is part of the awkward part of this.
Your existing pack should be fine to carry what you need. take out some dividers, take the 18-105 and the 70-200 and you're left with additional space. What size laptop do you carry?

I can fit a laptop in my my Primus but not in a fashion that I'd be comfortable traveling with or spending lots of time in large crowds. Something smaller than 15in would likely fit better though, and in a protected area. This bag is pretty much my goto for travel/photohiking. Well protected, inaccessible to others due to the location of the pockets, and super comfortable. It will fit a D300 w/grip and 80-200 mounted along with another lens in the bottom compartment, along with room for whatever else in the top. The side access isn't as great as it seems. It works for my D300, but not with the grip (which I almost always use) and not with wide barreled lenses (so the 28-70 is a struggle to get out with hood on, for instance). It DOES work great with like my 10-20 or something like that. I imagine the 18-105 would work with the side pocket, but don't own it to test.
But really, as Johanna said... the Holy Grail awaits you. It seems like most photographers get several bags and use them for different things, never quite finding exactly the right thing.

Well the 70-200 belongs to my parents so I don't really have it on a daily basis so I won't be bringing it with me on this trip :(.

The laptop is 14".. Deciding if I should just bring a netbook and external HD with me.. I am probably going to buy a 50mm 1.8 soon as well but that's small and will fit anywhere.

Thanks for the reco, gonna check it out.

ETA: Anyone have any problems with a tripod or gorilla pod on board?

I used to travel to Italy via Paris and usually arranged for an overnight or 12+ hr layover. Air France has a shuttle every 30 minutes from CDG to downtown, the ride takes about an hour and is the cheapest/fastest/most convenient way to get into the city from CDG. It's about 15-20 euros round trip. There were other stops, but I always got off at Place de la Concorde by L'arc de Triomphe and from there, took a taxi or walked. Of course I traveled with my G7 and not a DSLR after the first trip.

I'd just take the LowePro and pack everything tight. How many clothes are you taking anyway?

Keep in mind if you bring the tripod, it has to be checked and kept in the hold. Last short trip I took I left the tripod and the laptop at home, and went with a small case logic bag and no lens longer than 75mm. The small kit was much easier to haul along, less of a theft target. While I may have missed a few shots with the short glass, but going wide and fast with the mini plastic tripod was much easier to haul along and will be my tourism kit for future trips where photography is not the main goal.

A netbook (something like an EeePC sized) and drive would fit fine along with plenty of other crap in the top compartment of the Primus. Often I'll carry the 28-70 mounted with the 10-20 also in the bottom, then the 80-200, an SB900, fleece, and something to eat inside the top compartment, and lash a shell between the clamshell thing and the main body using the clips. The Compurovers have a similar idea in their design to this, with the bottom compartment/top compartmnet. I think you can take it all out and make it as one big pack if you really wanted to, as well.
I just was looking around to even see what the going rate for a Primus is these days, and though it's still listed on LowePro's site, it seems like they might not really be available much. I got mine for way less than the list price when I bought it a year or two ago.
Here's one that is similar in design though- Tamrac Aero. There are a few different ones in this line, and I don't recall how the naming scheme works, so I recommend checking out the whole Aero series.
