Have you tried going fully B&W and punching the contrast more? I reckon it might work.

I had punched up the contrast quite a bit as it is. I hate to kill detail by overcranking it. I'll play with it and see what more contrast looks like. Thanks.

B&W without a doubt.
But I disagree completely with punching the contrast. In any case, NOT for the entire shot. A lot of pictures suffer now from too much contrast and burn and they become muddy, formulaic and evenly treated. A touch of transparency works miracles.

THis is another common site in Manila, young people playing basketball with no court but in the middle of a dump, at least it keeps them fit and happy.

I thought about entering it into the candid, but was afraid of so much of the bottom half beeing cut off.

This is definitely a street shot, but without people

I did consider this for a candid shot, and the F/s as well.

This child longed to be out on the streets riding his bike, or so it seemed. Then this woman came along and moved him from the door, like she didn't want him to look outside, very strange indeed. THere was no place for him to ride his bike, he basically lived right on the edge of the street, in a tiny house.
