OK, As part of my Halloween costume, I need to make up my face to look like I have a sunburn with white areas where my sunglasses blocked the sun. I have no idea how to do this. When I google "sunburn makeup" or similar terms, I get hits for putting makeup over sunburn, or effects makeup for someone who has been burned like Freddy Kreuger. So, I'm hoping to tap into the collective genius of DPC and find someone who says, "Yeah, I know how to do that" and replies.

Thanks.

I don't know a specific formula, but you might try searching under "moulage" -- which is makeup specifically designed to simulate injuries, such as is used in disaster drills or EMT training and such.

How about getting some spray on suntan? You could get some of that stuff and just keep it away from the area around the eyes. Hmm, might not work though, I just realized you said sunBURN.

I'd go with a creme blush (they usually come in stick form) in a very dark color, mixed with some liquid makeup.

I think you could work with a bronzer and blush.

Going over your skin with a blowtorch could give a realistic look.

Yeah, so could sticking my head in the UV cure oven at work. The idea behind using makeup is to get the visual effect without the pain or increased risk of melanoma.

Draw the "sun glasses" on with painters tape, made narrow of course, then use gel blush all over your face! It's easy and will definitely make you look sunburned! Remove tape and you should have zebra stripes!

Food coloring works great, but it might be a bit more permanent than you would like. If you are going to keep the look for a few days, fine, otherwise, not so good. Watered down white base face paint goes translucent to get that pasty look around the eyes and across the temples, and blush would do the job unless you want full on lobster red. Lay it on heavily on the nose , chin, cheeks and ears and thin it out between to get the variable look of a real burn. Adding a top layer of moisturizer will give it that shiny gooey look of a bad burn.

It's better than I thought and not too serious.
