Last night was an absolute nightmare here in Dublin with flooding. A month's worth of rain fell in a few hours, and that's a lot for somewhere as wet as Ireland! Anyway, here are some clips for your amusement.

First, this is Dundrum, one of my local shopping centres.

Here's a local river trying to get in through the doors - //www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7r1rrdJ0WI
It does create a pretty waterfall on the stairs outside - //www.youtube.com/watch?v=YU659YPRVs0
The flood gets on a bus - //www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzLwz37nLiQ

Dude, where's my car?

Heard about it in the news this morning. Sounds pretty terrible alright.

Something similar happened in Cork in 2010. I was without water in my apartment for three weeks, ironically.
John, start getting water bottles and filling up! It took about three days for mine to go.

Here're some highlights:

Too big to show here

It's like Venice! :-)

My gym's reception:

Actually, the lack of water was both terrible and excellent. There wasn't water to flush, so I had to use my local pub's facilities.

My wife's cousin lives there and has an Italian café (well, now a couple of them). I should ask her if all is ok. I always thought Ireland was a rainy country but never thought about floodings.

Damn...I can so relate to what you are going through....after being through two floods in the last 3 years we are now getting the warnings that this year we are going to be facing another. Please be careful and take precautions with the water.

What a coincidence - I used to live in an apartment right next to that cafe and went there for breakfast a few times.

Unfortunately, it's right next to one of the canals that flooded last night, so you should get in touch with them.

Thanks Judi - We live on a hill here, so our house is safe. But it's still raining!

Sadly a policeman was swept away by the floodwaters near us last night while trying to direct traffic.

Yeah, that's pretty bad, but you should see the state of Thailand at the moment - lots of areas will remain inundated until the end of November. This affects many Japanese companies too, including car manufacturers and hard disk makers. Not only that, firms like Nikon can't make lenses and cameras, so if you were hoping to buy new equipment soon...

Starting to subside...5 months later!!!!

(Where I grew up!) THIS flood could have been prevented!!!!!!

Please be safe if the floods are effecting you. And be smart!
We used to drive on this to a large parking area at the end. Then walk the rest of the way into the island.
Now you can only get there by boat!
You can see where the water made the edges (that are left) smooth!

No need to continue the hijack. Apologies. Much more on this on YouTube and in the news as it's getting heated and ugly! Will put more in my profile if anyone is interested. Homes, business, roads, bridges...forever gone of changed!!!
