So im a newbie here maybe 2 months and just wanted to clear something up
on the recent Pink challenge there were a few amazing images that in a free study id have given a 9 easily but imho they didnt fit the Pink challenge, so is the brief that if you have a cracking image you submit it anyway and plead ignorance etc?
so these are two i picked that i commented on and fitted the bill for what i mean, now i know interpretation is in the eye of the beholder but using a colour chart like this one
so is it my eyes? like i say amazing images but just dont shout pink at me.

ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
LOL. Scores are determined by the voters and many voters have very liberal interpretations of challenge topics and some simply don't even take them into consideration. The forums are littered with arguments from both sides dating back to when the site was called CavePaintingChallenge.com. If you are looking to get a decent score, generally stick to the topic, but if you do happen to produce a stunning image that doesn't really fit the topic, shoehorn it in with a good title and take your chances. My advice is to not get too worked up about why things go down the way they do. Just roll with it.
Welcome to DPC, by the way. :) |

I can understand if you don't think it is pink at all- but that bird is a "pink flamingo." so thats pink, even if its black and white.
As a newbie, start liberally, and remember your DNMC is not always going to be based upon rational, factual grounds in line with others' opinions, so my advice is, don't play the DNMC trump card often.

You should enter what you love, even if you don't think it fits PERFECTLY. Don't get hung up on how people vote - it's the shortest road to insanity. |

whats dnmc?
just to stir the pot a little and my tongue i firmly in my cheek "pink flamingo even in black and white"
Six flamingo species are recognized by most sources, and these are generally placed in one genus. Two species, the Andean and the James's Flamingo, are often placed in the genus Phoenicoparrus instead of Phoenicopterus. greater flamingo, lesser flamingo, chilean flamingo, andean flamingo and american flamingo.
a "pink flamingo" =
hahahaha |

DNMC = Does Not Meet Challenge
A designation voters sometimes use in their comments to indicate that they do not believe the image meets the topic title and/or description. As mentioned earlier, there's a range of voter opinions about DNMC, from literal interpretations only, to anything goes.
IMO, none of the voters in the spectrum are wrong. It's all subjective. |

DNMC is the comment left when you want to convey that you probably won't give full marks for the picture because it isn't clear (to you) that the entry meets the challenge. Generally, most folks who enter here have a theory about how their entry meets the challenge, and get their feathers quite ruffled because you don't have the creativity or intelligence to see how it perfectly meets the challenge. |

Guy colors.
Most guys only know about 7 colors.
The flamingo is more of a salmon than a pink, imo. But most guys don't know salmon, periwinkle, goldenrod, etc. The know pink, blue, yellow... |

Some entrants think that the sheer awesomeness of their entry should override any considerations about challenge descriptions. Lol.
