I went on a trip this weekend to the Very Large Array in New Mexico. On the way I dropped my camera. Frantically checking it out I got the message "No Card in Camera". Luckily, the card had just jarred loose. The camera seemed to work fine after that, but some of my settins were wrong.

Later, after taking lots of pictures at the array, I noticed my settings were all going to default after turning the camera off and on. Checked and sure enough, the "reset to default" was on. Decided to check the rest of the settings and found the date had reset to 01/01/2001.

The only good thing (besides no permanent damage) is that none of the pictures I took were intended for a challenge.

That Olympus C-750 sure took a beating.

So I guess this is not really a 'Rant" after all.

I'm glad that your camera is ok.
I've dropped or bumped my Olympus more times than I count, with no more consequence than relplacing the flash bulb, or pushing the zoom back in it's socket. I thought I had killed it several times, but it just keeps on taking pictures!!

We purchased our first D-550z before my mother and I went on a criuse in the Mediterranean. On the second to last day I was taking this picture in Genoa, Italy:

Well, the church's steps were made of black and white marble, one was black then the next one was white, and I had on a borrowed pair of sunglasses. Well, as I rushed to grab that shot and then catch up to my group, I slipped because I couldn't see the steps clearly cause of the glasses and colors. Guess what I landed on? The wide open lens of our brand new camera. -_- The casing cracked so it was completely jammed and it kept trying to go on and off, I had to take out the batteries. On the other hand, it took more damage than I did, all I got was a broken camera, sunglasses, and a slightly twisted ankle. ^_^

Thankfully CompUSA took it back because we had bought the extra warranty plan. Also, the memory card wasn't damamged and we had brought our Olympus film camera with us just in case. It served well to finish out the trip. ^_^
