Bah! I would easily score that picture an 8, perhaps 9. I think if someone else enters one and it's technically correct and pleasing in appearance it should score within the top five.

Maybe I`d better shot up town and get a new picture before Tuesday night :) shows what I know; I think it`s just a bog-standard picture of the Eye.

LOL... with currently 95 entries and still rising :D But hopefully it won't be as bad as Orange where there were about 385 shots!

Edit: 100 entries now!

I wonder how many voters out there will vote low for a photo of a tire without the wheel. A tire is technically not a wheel, but is part of a wheel.

yeah i wondered that too. i thought about taking pictures of a stack of tires or something.. but thought.. no no they are not wheels... i dunno.. i guess we could be sticklers about it, or not... if i take a picture of valve stems... how would that fare?

I predict that most will choose a subject that is easily accessible. A few of those will make good shots of those subjects.

A "few" is right!

I predict someone, somewhere will incorporate a guitar into their shot. Along with kiddies and cats, the guitar must rank as the most over-shot subject here on DPC...

I would say that although the guitar is the item that might stand out as the most over-shot item, I contend that flowers are the most overly used subject. Parallel flowers, orange flowers, flowers in conflict, flowers in motion, flowers in potraits, flowers waiting for something off screen ......

Hi all I`m new to these photo competitions and cant find any ruling on whether negative images are allowed. Please can someone shed some light on the matter??

I would love to see a flower shot over a bad shot of tire any day.
04/06/2004 12:44:13 PM · #37
I totally agree...good flower shots are great...I'm just saying that they are used, in the majority, in almost every challenge.

I wonder if we will see a flower growing in a wheel!

I need some guitar pictures to put on the wall of the room where I teach guitar. So tough, you might get plenty more from me.

LoL I felt the same about my entry until today when I entered another I like. I'm still not sure if the other (I don't like) won't do better. :)

I had so many good wheel shots from the local hotrod drive in, but I found something better. I predict I will finish in the top 10. I will post my outtakes layer. Good luck all.

With over 200 entries in this challenge, I predict we will see an enormous variety of 'wheels' and some that are totally unexpected!
04/06/2004 02:26:57 PM · #43
I predict many technically good shots that are just downright everyday boring. I predict that something unique, shot technically well and interesting will win. I've been looking for that something all week to no avail. :(

You keep posting 'em, and I'll keep doling out the ones, twos and threes.

I haven't gave much 1,2,3's I don't remember ever giving someone a 1, but if I see a guitar shot in the whells challenge well that would be it. :)

I really want to post a guitar shot in the wheels challenge now, just to make you all happy... I'll see if I can make the effort...

How about a dog in wheelchair playing guitar?
04/06/2004 04:11:36 PM · #49
That would get a good score from me, as long as it wasn't out of focus or over / under exposed too badly, and showed at least a part of the wheel of the wheelchair ;)

I think that you would get at least +4 if you could get dog to play the guitar, though!

A dog in a wheelchair playing guitar? Even I may be able to dole out a 4 for that. A 5 if it's in focus.
