Ok. I've had this issue before, and I don't remember how I solved it.
I've created my motivational poster. How to I align the text blocks so that they are centered on the canvas? In other programs I could select the pieces and select an "align centers" type of thing. I'm just not seeing one in photoshop (but I could be blind...)
thanks! I don't like either poster option, so it would at least be nice to have the text aligned. :) |

Even if I'd seen your question I can't type fast enough to answer it in less than 1:07 ... :-(
Glad you figured it out though ... :-)

haha! It was one of those hit yourself across the top of the head moments. I've looked for it many times, and after I posted it, I finally found it. :) |

| Care to share the answer? Not because I need to know, of course -- you know in case someone else wants to know ;-) |

| One helpful thing I got out of this entry is finding how to set the font in the big caps little caps style, there is a little box to controll text that pops up when you select text tool in the menu and you just hit the TT icon for that weird all caps with random large caps that is the hallmark of the idiotic type style of the motivational poster. |

Makes sense to me... it's exactly like scouring the house for something you *know* you have, not finding it, buying another, and pretty much stumbling over the old item on the way in the door with the new!

Ummmm... Because it's embarrassingly easy... :)
Select the layers you want to align in the layers palette. Go to the layers menu and select Align.
Exactly where it should have been. I swear it wasn't there before!!! :)

You're welcome for the help.
In PaintShop Pro, I just created the text as a vector object and dragged it around until it was where I wanted it. Might be an align feature somewhere, I suppose.

| Thanks. I was playing with a trial version last night and was too tired to figure it out. Your embarrassment is my gain! |

For the icon driven (the illiterate) when you have the selection tool active, select the layers (or items) you want to align using shift or control click and a series of boxes show up on the menu bar above the screen. you choose the two boxes with the line horizontally above the boxes for align the tops, through the center for align center, ect |
