Is the use of content-aware scaling legal in advanced editing?
It would be used to basically squish some space in the middle on the image, in between two object to make them closer within the frame.

I'd say absolutely NOT. But I'm not an DC, I just pretend to think like one sometimes.

You may not - use distortions to create new effects or radically alter objects. Does it do either of those things? Probably yet another grey area to quibble about.

I think it's a gray area.

Thoughts from SC?

Nope . not legal.

I'll just edit two versions until I get word from the SC.
Obviously I'm hoping for a positive ruling though.

Haha, you guys aren't giving me much hope here!
The image looks so much better with the squished middle!

So sorry, but I have to agree that there's not a snowball's chance in Hades that that it will fly.

I don't see it being a problem as long as you aren't removing a major element.

Did you submit a ticket with Before/After versions and a detailed description of your editing steps attached? There is no way to render even an informal opinion (which is all you can get before submitting an entry) without seeing exactly what you are doing/changing. And if you've done that, I'm not sure what value there is in posting the question here, since no one here can tell if what you've done is legal without seeing it either ...

Well, that wide middle is gonna get reshaped, stretched, and distorted to make it narrower. Plus, major pixels will be removed and replaced with those pixels generated by the content-aware algorithm.

I dont think any of that is legal in advanced editing rules.

Good thing you submitted for pre-validation.
