At least they were not away on vacation. Imagine if there was a storm or two. Now that would be damage. Still, that repair quote sounds high. How hard is it to patch a hole in plywood and add some shingles.

It is about $3,200 over what I would bid. But insurance claims are a very specialized construction field with an awesome amount of paperwork and being jerked around by the insurance company.

And oh yes, I am sure that a local house that *just happened* to have a whole lotta bad karma associated with it, *just happened* to be uninhabited, which also *just happened* to be undergoing renovations, *just happened* to uhm spontaneously combust and, going by the video posted by the neighbours across the road, oh hell no, *NO* accelerants at all were in the area....and the fire department has absolutely *NO* reason to call in the investigators...

yeeeeahhhh....sometimes, I'm a really tough sell.

They could just stuff the lens back in the hole, a little duct tape, a shot of fill foam, and good as new.
We missed a house one time by about 25 ft with a watermelon from an aircraft. We haven't landed a melon on anything of importance yet, but do know that muzzle velocity is well over 500 fps with average watermelons. We have lost a few BB's (bowling balls) because they go out of sight while still rising, so we don't play with them any longer.
Can you imagine that insurance call. " Yep, it was a watermelon, landed right here between my easy chair and the TV. No, I haven't been drinking" ect.
For the math people, it takes about 22 seconds round trip when we fire an 8 inch 8 lb melon near vertical. We call that "redneck roulette" as in "Hey, I got it! "

Waddy, sometimes I worry! How do you know those bowling balls didn't hit a gator or something...*snicker*...
