Interesting. They don't say much about future hardware developments to use the technology, but knowing Microsoft, and speculating into the future, if Andy were to repeat his trek in 2009 he would: 1) not have to do manual data entry as his camera would do it for him wirelessly (whether he wanted it to or not as the settings to disable the function will be buried deep inside the system); 2) a cheaper, better version would emerge soon after Microsoft's but be kept from market success because Microsoft had forced all camera makers to install their software; and 3) As soon as Andy uploaded his pics he would be bombed with "targeted" messages telling him the closest places to get a new pair of hiking boots, stock up on dehydrated food, and offers to deliver hot pizza to his campsite. |
