Hello my fellow dpc fanatics.
I just thought I would post my experience on cleaning sensorsâ€Â¦.
I was on Vacation on a road trip through Alberta and Bc down to the Okanogan and back to the Yukon.
All was fine In Alberta picture wise then one day while driving with my windows down I must have a got a NASTY amount of dust on my 5D sensor because the next Picture I took in the Yoho national park of a water fall with it set on F11 when looking at my photo on the view screen I could see SO much dust looked like I just took the shot thru a salt shaker lidâ€Â¦..So I pulled out my brush/blower and used the blower then the brush but the brush must have had something sticky on it so it left a mark that looked like a storm cloud on my pictures so needless to say I em freaking at this point. So I type in the closest Photo store in my tomtom.I get to the photo store. The guy from the store tries to clean it for me with no luck.. So I Google sensor cleaning methods and I find these things called “Sensor Swab Plus” Pre-moistened with Eclipseâ€Â¦
So I go to the nearest London drugs and buy a pack. While in my head I em scared shitless to mess with my Sensor I would rather send it in to a Professional but im on a Road trip with 100s of photo opp. So I hold my breath and PRAY and use the $20 pack of sensor swabsâ€Â¦.. When all was said and done I put my lens back on pointed it at the blue sky set my camera to F22 and took a picture Viewed at 100% and My sensor Looked brand new NO dust NO grease NOTHINGâ€Â¦Ă˘€Â¦ So I SUDGEST THIS PRODUCT IF IN A TIGHT SPOT!!! Just be CAREFULL and all should be fine. I now have a extra pack in my camera bag :D

Glad to hear it worked! I"m waiting on my cleaning kit to arrive this week to do mine. BTW, does anyone know if you can get dirt IN a lens? Shots taken with two diff. lenses show this large spec, but not with other lenses. |

Indeed. I already use this product several years and it works great. Nice thing is that the liquid dries so fast, it can not leave stains on the sensor.
My normal cleaning process starts with blowing away the dust, then clean the sensor with the sensor swab and finally a last blow on the edges of the sensor.

It could happen. If they are still under warranty you could try to get a new one or at least get them cleaned if they are a pain in the b*tt.
But 2 lenses with the same spec?
What are the odds...?

These two lenses didn't happen to have a small aperture did they? You can have huge dust spots all over your sensor and never see them until you stop down your aperture to f/10 or smaller. |
