I don't have tell you that we are in a deep financial crises. The stock exchanges around the world are literally in melt down.  People are seeking solutions and nobody is able to see beyond the tips of their noses. I will keep this short and sweet.  As dumping seems to be the economic posturing of the day and until there is some semblance of fair trading acts and to support the regrowth of the heavy manufacturing sectors in your regions, I am suggesting that when possible, purchase products that have been manufactured, produced or co-produced in your region, or country.  Unless we do so, we will loose what ever is left of our heavy and electronics industries and become solely a services based society.  If we loose our capacity to produce high tech industrial products, we will become nothing more than a third world group of countries with very little leverage if any. Comments welcome.

It's not you who have to start buying US products, it's China.

Doc Brown: No wonder this part failed it says "Made in Japan."
Marty McFly: What do you mean, Doc? All the best stuff comes from Japan.
Doc: Unbelievable.

well what products are made here that i want or need to buy?

the "buy american" moniker is just union propaganda and just becuase a foreign company owns a product doesn't necessarily mean it not made in the US.

most of the products we buy oversees are mad there becuase its cheaper, there's a problem eight there, why dont we offer huge tax breaks to these companies to make it cheaper to build them here, so that they hire american workers

another problem is that there is a huge deficiency in the skilled trades. being a skilled worker became frowned upon over the years as society made it so that you needed to be college educated for your life to be considered a success, as a result we have too many people with office jobs and not enough to do the physical labor. We need to realize that people go to college not "get and education" but to "learn a profession". we need to reeducate the population that skill trades aren't bad and are required and do pay well. maybe then unemployment will begin to decrease and we can go back to not worrying about where stuff is made.

there isn't going to be a quick fix to this problem, but we do need to start to shift our way of thinking, the current way inst working so well.

Not everything here is made in Japan. There's stuff made in Indonesia, Thailand and of course China. Only last week when we were in Okinawa, we found out that one of the more expensive "local" souvenirs, although designed on one of the islands, are actually painted in Vietnam. (I ended up painting one for myself ;-Þ)

And as for local foodstuff ... should we get vegetables, meat or milk that come from one of the prefectures near Fukushima (including the one I live in)?

Dude...don't you know there is a Class War(fare) going on in the US? In nearly every speech, President Obama says we need to raise corporate taxes. Don't you know anything? We need to RAISE corporate taxes to take care of all the spending the US does.

Please don't give me any BS that by makiing corporations pay more - they may cut back on hiring and/or pass the tax increase on to the consumer...thus slowing the economy more. Everyone who has ever walked into a college economics class knows that doesn't happen.

Funny how the outsourcing first started under the Reagan administration. I forgot who voted him in office? You can do away with all the corporate taxes and companies would still move jobs overseas if they can pay their employees lower wages. You really should be thanking the people you're mocking. They are the kind who have forced companies from being slave owners to ones who pay fair wages and provide the type of working conditions we now have today. Do you really want to revert back to the old days? If so I can help simulate that. Just mail all of your paychecks to me and go stand in a coal mine. ;)

I'd like to see a much higher Tariff tax to the US corporations. If it's not cheaper to send our jobs over seas then they might stay here.....No easy fix for sure.
