Arthur Morris - photographer and author of Birds as Art has just announced a new contest. I thought some people from here might be interested.

Huh... Turns out I'm about 10% bird photographer... I'm kinda surprised at how many birds shots I've entered into challenges - probably won't enter though - there's sure to be some killer talent turn out for that and my bird shots are.. Good, but not great - maybe I'll get something really awesome in the next year..

Cory, not trying to contradict you but your shot of the Northern Harrier is outstanding.
He also does shots like this other one of yours
The contest is accepting entries for a long period of time and I have talked with Artie Morris (years ago)and exchanged emails with him and he is quite exceptional in what he considers great shots. I don't know him in the least mind you, it's just when I started following his work and subscribed to his blog, it was about 6 years ago and he was very approachable and gave me some good insight on bird photography and took a look at some of my stuff. He charges now to give feedback.
I think you should really take a look at your photos and also at his site. You might be very surprised.

You're too kind.. I'll take a genuine look around and see if he'd like some of my shots - still, I'd like to pull off something truly worthy in the next few months, I have little doubt that there will be some amazing photographers entering in.
I couldn't find a list of previous winners, maybe I'm just blind? |

It's a new contest .. first year for it. They want to make it an annual one and expect it get a lot of recognition as time passes. I haven't read all the rules and regs yet .. just that as far as editing it's a lot more open that most contests. I got the email late last night and only glanced at it. I am sure that many here would know much better than moi if it's a fair contest.
Costs $25.00 (you get more than one entry.. I thought I read 10 but not sure) but if you bought something from b&h it get's you an entry. My 7D arrived today :( so I was a few days early ordering that but b&h are one of their sponsors.
Anyway, I had to pass it on as I really like A. Morris and his style of photographing birds and when he told me (years ago) that he talks to them too and tells them where to fly, I knew I found someone I could relate to (grin) I thought I was the only nut. |

Yes, one can submit up to ten entries for a single fee, but I can't submit anything at all -- for some insane reason their "liberal" rules require a RAW original, eliminating a huge pool of prospective entrants with cameras which only capture JPEG ... |
