Preview is unusable for me for DPC - 'Save As' replaced with 'Export' but there is no clue as to what the file size is for different levels of compression quality. I now need to round-trip to Photoshop to use Save for Web and Devices.

This means I can't do my final colour/toning finishing in Preview or use it for Adamus sharpening.

Why lose the file size indicator??

I didn't know you could do any of that with Preview. I see how to save as jpg, so I assume you'd sharpen it and preview it out of Photoshop and reduce the size in the save as jpg in Preview to get the Adamus sharpening.

Does this really work better than resizing it in PS?

I read that Lion is a bit of a cock-up I sooooo nearly bought it online too.. I guess if it's not broken ... there are a lot of people complaining about it. Can you not simply uninstall it?

I don't t hink you can uninstall it, per se. But, if you use Time Machine or some other back up solution, you can restore from the last back up.

I probably don't understand the problem. But, Preview seems to work just fine in MacOS X 10.7 Lion.

Preview >>> Tools >>> Adjust Size...
Preview >>> Tools >>> Show Inspector

It's not software I prefer for the mentioned task, but it looks like it functions just fine for same. But, like I said, I probably don't understand the issue/inadequacy.

Overall, MacOS X 10.7 functions exceptionally well. The apps I use most for photography.... Aperture 3.1.3, all the NikSoftware Plugins and PSElements are solid and snappy.

I have an Adamus preset in Aperture, I publish to Desktop at 1600px, then use the sharpen slider all the way and then save, do it again, save, then resize to 800x800. At this point I could us the compression slider to get it to <300k.

Pretty much all of my monochrome work is finished in Preview too. I add a tad of sepia and take the colour temperature down a bit. I like the tone it gives.

Now though, my final stage of saving at less than 300k isn't possible.

Going from Aperture to PS for Save for Web doesn't allow me to do my final toning and sharpening tweaks in the same way.

Just bringing back the file size readout when you are compressing would make all of the difference to me.
