I for one, suck.

I can't help but think mine is a very artistic shot- a good shot- perhaps I am Being DNMC'd based upon perceptions that in order to meet the challenge it must be some overly repetitious shot with 6 million of the same tile or window or blind in the shot. I for one will vote hidden or more latent patterns higher, and blatant - non artistic in nature patterns, no matter how technically advanced- will feel my voting wrath.

Taking your screen name to heart? :-} Just be cautious that you don't use low votes as retaliation. Give them what you think they deserve.

Lol- just venting. I calls them like I sees them.

Years ago I would start a rant thread, looking to get into vast philosophical arguments on how people shouldn't dnmc a shot because they may not be smart enough to get somebody elese shot-(if I was lucky, Zeuszen or the like might jump in) as I railed against the superficial nature of Photographers not being fine artists, But not now, I am older an much more lazy.

I won't retaliate with voting, but I will always go for aesthetics over the flashy technical shots.

I expected (hoped?) it to perform better, but it's still early.

Look at that! I am not in the 4's (knock on wood...)
Funny thing is this photo took the least amount of time than any of my others... maybe I am trying too hard.

Effort does not always correspond to mass appeal. Some of my quickest, laziest shots have done well and others that took a ton of effort have bombed.

Feel lucky, my brother. I am tanking a 4.6 right now. LOL. If it were to finish here it would be my third lowest score on the site. LOL. It's a left jab, a right hook, and his ego is DOWN!!!! LOL. At least I figured it was going to tank before I entered it. By the way, re-congratz on the 4th place finish. You do that again and you'll have to change your name to 4thpoint

Just rockin' along about 5.0 this morning, should finish at about 25 % in the challenge.
Thanks for the nice comment this morning too!

i think the voters are conspiring to keep everything at ~5

i've just creeped up to 5.18... it wasn't a great image, and minimal editing curtailed the fine touches that i think would have helped it (and i suspect most others's, too).

as someone noted in the pre-voting thread, this was the general way of photography pre-digital (you get what you see), unless you were a darkroom guru.

but it was fun to shoot

Looking at the scores in this thread my 5.4 might just be enough for a top 10. ;)

Good for you! Congrats!

I've apparently missed out on the pattern... but I'm OK with that.

I'm very amused at the score so far, esp. since in my experience scores tend to end higher than on the first day. I almost didn't enter this, then decided I liked it enough to share. And now it might end up higher than my average.

Oh, and I'm a lock to get the new high score on the Blackberry Torch high-scoring photos page. ;)
