I'm really big fan of time-lapse clips. specially ones made from night sky... and I've tried them few times, turned out not so bad.
but this one by 'Ole Salomonsen' is my favorite! the main subject in Aurora.
frames have been picked out from around 50k pictures! the whole video took a year to shoot. also good music and nice dolly moves during the shots.
also another one by 'Daniel Lopez' which contains both night sky and nature scenes: Canary Sky
he used fantastic HDR images to make this time-lapse clip, and there are unbelievable dolly moves by a dolly he made himself.
i still am thinking of a dolly which can do these things!!
these two were very inspiring to me... hope you enjoy them too.

Both of those are particularly beautiful. Best depiction of Northern Lights I have ever watched, especially. And the ebbing and flowing of the sea of clouds, like tide upon a shore, in the canary video is marvelous.

Ok, so walk me through this. Let's say I want to shoot a time-lapse of Autzen stadium filling up 30 minutes prior to the game and then 30 minutes of the game. Am I shooting continuous 1 second photos in which case I will have 3,600 photos to put together? Do I have an interval between photos? When I process them, do I run them at 24 frames per second?
I'd love to know the nuts and bolts of this technique! |

Yes, you would end up with 3600 pics and if you processed at 24fps would get 150s of video.
I`ve read it best to use long shutter speeds with nd filters to blur the people so it looks more natural.
Everything you could need to know can be found here. |

Thanks marbo. That link was very helpful. One question I didn't see the answer to: How many pictures can I get with a single battery charge on the 5D2? I wonder if that's listed in the manual at all and how much it varies since I'd be doing 1 second exposures.
EDIT: Canon says 850 shots. Hmmm, does this mean one has to have lots of batteries to swap out? or is there another way to do it?
