Man, this case just keeps getting more bizarre by the hour. Earlier today the Mayor of London (I believe that's correct) resigned.

ETA: Thanks to paulbtlw for clarifying that it was not the Mayor of London, but the Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police that resigned.

Now, one of the initial whistle-blowers is found dead.

Whistle-Blower Found Dead

Stay tuned for more craziness!

News of the World....My "s" didn't get added. I hate when that happens. Especially when it's the thread title and I can't fix it! LOL.

Not the Mayor but the Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police. I believe the daughter of one of the News of the World executives landed a job in the police and the noise is a friendship between the two men suggests it was an improper appointment (allegedly).

If Boris Johnson (the Mayor) resigned that would be enormous, I can't think that is likely to be even remotely possible.

Murdoch must be thinking: one more loose end tied up...
Hell of a story!

Ah, Okay. Thanks for clearing that up Paul. I heard it on the news while I was driving this morning, and wasn't 100 percent sure if it was they Mayor or someone related to his office.

The head count is steady at a one a day - so who will it be tomorrow, I wonder!

Somehow I have a feeling that linear daily increase is going to turn into a logarithmic curve at some point and they'll be dropping like flies. LOL.

I believe the Number Two at the Police has also resigned this morning.

Murdoch cunningly closed down the NoW, rendering a number of people jobless etc. So the flies have been sacrificed en masse in the hopes of propping up M's drooping halo. At the same time executive rebekah wossname was still on the payroll of News International, so it looked very much as though all those jobs were thrown to the wolves to save hers.

She has now resigned and been arrested and you couldn't wipe your arse with Murdoch's halo what with it being altogether too similar in consistency with that which it would be supposed to wipe up.

It does seem very unlikely that Boris will attract a lot of flies, but the way things are going...

While I suspect the Guardian may be having a teeny bit too much fun, I am too so hee hee

That's who they are talking about. The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has not resigned. It's John Yates, the Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police that has resigned.

The fact that the now dead whistle blower turned up with a broken foot and a broken nose last week is .....interesting. If the Murdoch mafia wants to chat with you, drop your cell phone and run out the back door.

Nah, Boris is still the mayor of London - The death of the reporter is not being treated as suspicous

Yes, that's what they say, but in this case who do you believe...the newspapers? The police? Ironic isn't it?

I never believed the date printed on the NOTW let alone what was inside...

Nothing suprises me these days, we may never know the truth behind his death.

That a potential witness in a case involving a billionaire media mogul, the head of Scotland Yard, the Prime Minister, and who knows how many others, turns up unexpectedly dead seems to me to practically define "suspicious" ... I hope Miss Marple ("Nemesis") haunts their dreams ... :-(

BTW, what's the Monarchy had to say about all this? I've heard zilch over here ...

Funny, when I heard about this I thought that they were lucky it wasn't still Henry VIII on the throne, or the term "heads will roll" would be less metaphoric.

I'm waiting to hear what the FBI has to say about NewsCorp's stateside shennanigans ...
