I think my free study is going to collect my greatest number of 1s.
Fair enough, the voting scale is 1-10 and people are entitled to vote how they see fit - but can anyone justify a 1?
Does this mean that my photograph is so bad it shouldn't have even been submitted? |

So it's not only me who stands at 4.6? I wonder what score the winner will have, 5.1? :-))) Hey guys, don't care about the average, it's the comment what matters! :-) Though, at the moment I have none.

4.5. Should have gone with my second choice, I guess. Doesn't encourage me to go shoot today.

Try going from from 6.8 after 130 votes down to 6.5 after 142 votes....that's alot of 1's and 2's.

35 Votes, 3.9. I could not believe it when I woke up this morning. I think I'm still dreaming. I expected around 5.5 coz mine is not so original but I still like it. Oh well, hopefully its just April Fools Day! :)

Tell me about it. I woke up this morning and all my entries had dropped. My blur entry was 5.88 when I went to bed and was at 5.6 when I got up. My Free Study is sitting at 4.0, with no comments, which is a little disturbing.
I'm really hoping the admins have implemented an April Fools joke which has adjusted all of our scores lower. If not, I ain't submitting again for quite awhile.

Just got another 1 - someone must really think it's a funny April Fools joke. Hope the admins. can filter for that . :p) This sucks........

Yeah, seems like the toughline voters signed on overnite. My blur went from 5.10 to 4.87 overnight, and the comments I've gotten (only three) have been very positive - one from a long time ribbon winner citing a high score. Oh well. And don't even get me started on the March free study. I debated about entering at all, but was pretty happy with my now sub 4 shot. And, to make matters worse, I find that there are lots on the free study that IMO are really not great shots. 'Course there are lots more to see here, and I'm sure there are also many fantastic ones. We just have 'ta keep on plugging. Don't worry 'bout scores if you're happy with your shot.

ack!
don't let the trolls get you down! and that's exactly what they are: trolls.
sounds like everyone's scores are tanking, but that you should in no way allow that to take away from your fun in shooting pictures! the point of the site is to encourage better work!! i know it sucks sometimes, but print it, frame it, and enjoy it for yourself.
screw the voters.

breaks can be good sometimes. you can also spend some time submitting shots to non-competition sites. if you look at my profile, you can see i've taken numerous coupla-month breaks and every time i come back even better than before.
shoot for yourself, not for the site.

Not to complain, because I obviously suck that bad... but I also noticed a dramatic and unusual drop that doesnt follow normal voting patterns of the past.
I went from 7.8 after 20 votes to 5.5 overnight. Drops are normal overnight on the first night, but you can at least guess if some people like/dislike it after the first 20 and get a general feel for it. But that would mean those voters after the first 20 must have been voting 5 or below to bring it down that much. Makes you wonder :(

I think the admins. should take a look at the voting pattern today. At the risk of sounding paranoid, I really think some people are abusing their voting priviledges today. Many people are seeing these patterns.

also experienced a stunning drop in my score.
it's my guess that a lot of people are giving others' pics low scores to improve their chances.
hopefully, after work hours today, people with integrity will start voting :)

Does anyone know approximately how many new users register each week? I just checked and since 3/25, 397 new users have registered - only 8 of whom have become members. Is this about average per week? Seems a bit high to me, but this is the first time I've really looked at the numbers.

I agree. My motion blur went from 4.5 to 3.10! AND now my free study sits sub 4. It's enough to make me want to stop with photography. QUITE disturbing and very destructive to me. I don't think I will be submitting anything for a while :-\

I had a possible 10 finish with my Blurred Motion entry. After the voting tirade of late, I'll be luck to finish top 50. Just when you thought it was safe to come out of the woods. :p
