Hey all,
Wow oh wow....28 days after sending in a batch of photos to Alamy, they FINALLY sent me notice that they had failed QC. They found 1 image of the 6 to be a tad soft. (Non-Alamy peeps: photos have to be absolutely technically perfect to pass QC. So if you fail on just one teeny little count, on one image, they will reject the whole batch even if all the others are perfectly fine. But you can resubmit the images, including the failed one, once it's been fixed.)
So, after grumbling about what potato muffins they must be, I went to go check to see how my other images were faring. After all, wouldn't it just be too funny if it turned out how I just made my first sale?
And uhmm....actually yeah, I had just made my first sale. Don't know in what capacity it'll be used yet, but suppose I'll soon learn.
And this comes hot on the heels of my first shoot with my new boss (an engagement shoot, he's happy with what I got) and the celebration of Ryan's and my 2nd anniversary...and tomorrow I'm bringing home the newest addition to the family...so yeah guess I'm a happy camper!!! |

Her name is Galena, don't think I'll change it. She's a cat, a retired breeding queen, which is how I got Lily. For the same reason too, I got Lil as a companion animal for Druli. Now that he's gone and she's made herseld head of the household, time for her to have a companion animal too.

What an odd name for a cat :-) It primarily refers to "Galena is the natural mineral form of lead(II) sulfide. It is the most important lead ore mineral." (To quote wiki)
Anyway, here's hoping Lily and Galena get along famously :-) |

It's a pretty mineral though - forms in cubes. |

Congrats all around. Especially about Galena. Getting kitties is always cause for celebration. |

That is an interesting name! And I had no idea what it meant, I kept meaning to Google it and kept forgetting. Thought it might have been the name of a medeival princess or something along that line. And I sure as shootin' hope they get along famously. Plan to use the same method I used when introducing Lily to Druli, and it worked.

Thanks all!!! Lily has been sitting out on the front steps all evening, because she knows there a new cat coming. She sees the den, and the placemat and overturned food and water dishes there, and the makeshift (or should that be makes***?) litterbox, all placed where it was when she first came here just over 3 years ago. She made all the difference as far as Druli was concerned, she got him to play with her and kept him company while I was slaving away in the horse biz. She was raised underfoot in a household with a lot of activity, so I think she and Galena will probably make a few noises at each other, then settle right in and get down to knowing each other and being buds.
As for the Alamy sale...the image will be 1/4 page, published in a textbook, in South Africa. Not a huge sale but so what, it's $$!!! Woohoo! :-0 |

Thanks Katie and Ron especially, fellow horsepeople!! I've had some rough times recently (though certainly not nearly as bad as what other site members have posted about in the past) so all this stuff coalescing...just what was needed.
Now the fun part, trying to get some sleep! Tomorrow's going to be a big day and even as I speak Lil goes galumphing down the stairs to see if new cat has arrived yet. She's been watching for her all evening, think she's expecting her to appear in a puff of smoke or something like that :-) |
