Hey everyone,

I am trying to put together a photo book for some friends of mine that are visiting the Calgary Stampede. I took this photo and would like to make it the cover for the book.... Here's after some of my rudimentary PP in CS5.

Any help/critique would be very much appreciated. I also have the original RAW if anyone is so inclined to use that.

Thanks in advance,

GG

My kind of subject. Give me a link to the RAW and I'll take a stab at it tomorrow sometime. yousendit is a good free service, if you don't already have a way of sending large files.

I edited one of these images.

This has a slight bluish tone that voters seem not to like.

And...well...why not...

Started working on one, but I'll have to come back to it. One of the issues is that the horse and background are nearly the same color, so tonal range and contrast are difficult to adjust. I'm also lens spoiled now I suppose, and that 75-300 does not shoot it's sharpest at full reach, which is making it hard to get the wow I am trying to get from this image.

Spiff.....

Thanks so much! I totally feel ya.... I was having the same problem, but amplify that with less than perfect CS5 skills...

Cory....

Know a good deal on one? ;) I am now learning the value of that glass.........

They're all a great deal. (of money...) ;)

In truth, look for anything used, probably here or Fred Miranda - it'll hold enough value that it's basically a free loan if you take care of it and sell it later on.

Not for a while. My "gear junkiness" is still at a lower level. My latest acquisition is a Tamron 70-300 for "only" $400. Might as well shoot with a Barbie Glam-cam I suppose...

And I'm still proud of my second highest entry being shot with the cheapest, junkiest lens I've had. (Which is now in the possession of sjhuls, who I think is using it as a doorstop.
