Yes, I also received the exact same email just with different a name... Ha, Ha.

After researching into the sights history, reading the email 10 times more and talking with a friend of mine I came to the conclusion that the whole sight is a big scam!
Unfortunately they now have two of my photos on there sight. L

An old forum about the their scams.

I am reporting this company to the BBB as a scam. Any one else who is involved with them should do the same! As a rule I have learned to check the history of companies there but when I first got involved with this company a year ago I could not find any information on it. Now I only take part in local contests and do local exhibitions around Japan. For me face-to-face relationships are a little more trust worthy.

Good luck with your $5000.00 Photographer of the Year award!

I entered a picture there and got two notices in the mail as well as two emails. I'm not sending them any money. I've heard their books never get published either.

We'll see....

Ya pretty much if you have money they send out the emails. Not reputable at all.

Hello Melking I have received several messages from picture.com one like that and several telling that since I could not make it to their award cerimony that I can pay them 160 dollars for my award and for them to show off my work.

I just laugh at the notion and know its a gimic to get money.

You can submit your work that is good so that you can maybe get some exposure on a website but past thaty Mel don't pay them crap.

George - if you paid by credit card then you should contact your cardholder and get them to sort it out with Picture.com

Anyway I thought I was photographer of the year on their site!!

;-P

Thank you all for your reply. i think i act stupidly but what i thought
was "what a hell... 1 year membership at the isp and the awards that they send may worth the money...)and i did pay by credit card but after that i found out that i could not reply to the email address (cfoster@picture.com)and i got suspicious. Btw what BBB is ...?
it is the JCC we have here in my country? the company responsible for credit card transactions?
thanks again

I've gotten that same invitation twice. It's a big rip off. I have heard that people do actually get the books. But it takes a considerably long period of time to get them. Also they can be purchased from amazon.com for less than you can get them directly from picture.com.

Yes, I got the email and ignored it. Then I got another warning me that it was my last chance, and that they sooo wanted my permission.. and my money ($160) for the expenses, etc...
LOL
This is leftover from a photo I naively submitted to them 2 years ago for a "contest". Turns out, it just keeps coming back to haunt me.

I've gotten three of them so far, but I didn't even read the last two. I found out this was a scam right after getting the book request letter in the mail.

BBB means Better Business Buereau (my spelling is awful).

Oh wow I get my book finaly. Yup just like I was told a total flooop. Some of the pictures in it Are like so discusting It realy makes my me-de-oker skills look even more so. Man! What a total turn off. Most of all, The big ""silver award for a great picture"" I "?" won never came, Like I ever thought I would. Dont wast your time at all on this joke off a company, or its sister sight, With Poetry and Stories.
