I took my photo with sepia in mind, but I think I've ended up liking the original color version better... ;-)
The voters seem to like it... riding ~6.4

Well, I finally turned off the scores. I was getting tired of watching the free fall. My one comment is a good one from one of the members I admire. So that was nice. |

dropped about .35 in the last 7 votes.
I actually understand people's reaction to "sepia for the challenge's sake -- no other reason."
But I think it's because we're used to seeing certain things in sepia. And expecting only those things in sepia.
My shot was not taken specifically for sepia in mind. However, I was incredibly surprised at how it looked in sepia -- and very pleased. It never would have occurred to me to try it, because it wasn't the old, broken down, ancient type images that I love in sepia. Again -- people need to open their minds a bit, and really look. There were many shots that sepia didn't really seem to fit. But there were others that, once you really looked, were quite cool in sepia. |

I finished not liking sepia. Too gloomy and some shots would just look much better in color or a different tone of black. Mine dropped 0.3 to 6.1, I also prefer it in color.
PS 6.07 after next vote, at this rate it will drop sub 6 soon. A lot of voters must hate sepia!

Why can't people just be open minded and assume we all entered our best shot into THIS challenge with THIS topic THIS week. IMO, looking at the gallery, it doesn't appear that there are many entries that completely disregard the sepia topic, either before shooting or during processing or both. Look at each one, really look at it before you vote and try to imagine that each one was given some thought and effort before submitting. Please. |

I don't have the best score and I did shoot with sepia in mind. I did try different things in pp and I did learn about sepia processing.
Do I still have more to learn? Yes!
Is my image great? Nope.
Did I have fun and learn? Yup!
And to me that's what this is all about!

I did shoot with sepia in mind. The image has some problems in color for a very specific reason. I used a standard sepia preset from a very popular plug-in. It looks adequately sepia to me, versus the untoned version. I have looked at the image from several computer monitors. I would not consider adding more toning intensity. But, I will admit my normal toning is done to enhance the presentation of the photo, so that the toning itself does not become a distracting element. |

I think the main problem is some are very heavy handed in sepia while others are a light touch. After viewing the heavy handed ones then the ones with a light touch don't look sepia they just look b&w. I think everyone should just vote as if they are all sepia and give most everyone the benefit of the doubt. Some photos look good with heavy sepia others do not. This is a sepia challenge not a "glaringly obvious sepia" challenge. |

Although I'm going to spend a week in the voter stockade for my meager effort, I've definitely gained a better appreciation for those sepia experts who know how to do this type of photography and processing effectively. I'm looking forward to voting this challenge...;-) |

Well raising a little, I am still surprised, not trying to brag, but this is a solid 6+ shot. If I saw this on somebody else, I would say it should end up a 6.2 or 6.3 Well I should just shut up and be happy it ain't the 4.7 it was last night huh? |

Woke up today to a very nice score (for me) and 4 really nice comments, but it's lost .32 so far today. Disappointing. |
