Here is a crop from the 800mm:
"Chaparral" is the manufacturer of the feed horn on this satellite dish.

Not a bad buy if it comes with a warranty and is in excellent (9 or 9+) condition.

Did the camera autofocus with 400 mm and 2 X on it? what was the maximum F stop ,11.2?

I shot all of these with the settings on AV - F11.
And yes the lens did autofocus in all shots.
I had to set the sensor to center only due to the surrounding trees.

The lens will search in very low light conditions but if you know how you can overcome this very easy by adjusting the sensors.

Calvus,

After seeing your 800mm shot, I am more convinced than ever that a Sigma is in my future. I have never bought a lense that was not a Nikkor, believing that the manufacturer was the best first choice. But your Tokina lens, even with a doubler is very clear/crisp. I would be quite satisfied with that level of picture quality.

Thanks for the post.

Were these handheld shots? If so, you have a steady hand! Looks like a pretty good lens.
