Oh come on... Why are people upset that a POLITICIAN lied.... Seriously?? Really?

Has it gotten so bad that you don't even expect such common behavior as telling the truth? We are truly circling the drain if that is the state of affairs.

I really get a kick out of this one...like we honestly believe that telling the truth is something we all strive for. Seriously, when was the last time anyone looked at someone's baby and said: "Good grief, what an ugly baby" or honestly tell their spouse: "No dear, those do not make your butt look big... Your butt is big".

Face it... Most people lie to a degree and those of us who don't have the scars to prove it. :O)

I think you just disagree with me just to do it no matter how silly your position winds up being. :) Please assume I'm socially adept enough to understand what white lies are all about and that they are different than lying about boinking the neighbor girl.

In fact it's a matter of character and judgement. I want those who represent me to be of good character and use good judgement. This politician, at best used very poor judgement in a simple personal matter. And demonstrated very poor character by lying about it, probably under oath. If he uses poor judgement and exhibits low character on a simple personal matter - how can I trust him to govern - he ceertainly doesn't represent me.

It's not simple American naivete. It's judgement and character.

To your first point, yes, absolutely.

To your second point, no. It didn't probably happen, it never happened, don't think otherwise.

Anyone who does something this embarrassing and prurient when exposed is going to lie about it, at least as long as they can. When they have to talk to the police or take an oath to be truthful, lying becomes a crime. When Weiner refused to involve the Capitol police in the "hacking" of his account, then failed to deny he had ever taken such photos, I smelled something rotten. but noting Weiner has been exposed as doing has violated any laws, or the rather loose ethical rules of Congress so far.

I was listening to NPR and the guy said that people want their politicians to be honest and transparent. Thats a load BS right there.
People want their politicians to appear to be transparent and good moral people. Because when it comes down to it, we dont vote
for the honest person. So many people listen to that old adage that says anyone can run for public office and they see that the country
is in despair with corrupt politicians. So these honest good people go to run for office and few ever get there or get very far.

Its those with a lot of money that get in office. They are able to put the money into the campaigns and win the vote.

Damn straight. Society forces people to lie just as a means to survive, but don't expect the ruling class or the conformed to understand that. That said, Weiner is still a weiner.

Personally I think the whole thing is a joke, I'm getting tired of hearing about a Weiner, oops, a Weiner guy that lied. Sure I don't like how he lied, and is wasting everybodys time. Now poor old Arnie has been shoved to the backburner. :-). On the other hand, it could benefit him in some way, by making him more popular in politics if he wants to climb higher up the ladder. Besides, he ISN'T even that good looking.

I feel bad for his wife and family, they'd be so embarassed I'm sure.

Fortunately she works with Hillary Clinton, so advice on how to deal with husbands who are horndog idiots is close at hand.
