I have a Nikon Coolpix 995 with a UV filter. Being a fluorescent mineral collector and dealer I need to take good photos of specimens in the dark under ultraviolet illumination. Using the auto setting, many photos taken under short wave UV come out quite well. However, even after much trial and error (mostly error), I can't get good photos under long wave UV. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Pierce

An interesting conundrum. I would assume that since the mineral fluoresces in visible light, you would have no problem photographing that. You're not really trying to image the UV light directly, just the resulting fluorescence.
Is the problem you are experiencing that the fluorescence is not photgraphing well? Some examples would be informative.
