If one asks for a self dq on day 1 of voting because one does not like one's own entry and it is is doing badly in voting, no other reason, entry is legal and legit in every way, just regret entering it and don't want it to be part of my portfolio, will it get removed from the portfolio or will it get moved to the sinbin like a any other dq'd entry and be part of one's portfolio for ever more?
If it stays then it is of course futile to ask for a dq and I might as well let it stay in the challenge then.Reason I want to ask for a dq is for it to be removed completely.
Thanks
Fred

No problem it will be removed and will never be seen again!

True enough! But, there is a rule which will come into play. "2nd DQ in last 25 submissions: 1 week suspension of submission privileges"
Allow the entry to stay. We all learn more from our mistakes than we do from our highest ranking images. Always your decision, though.

Might want to be careful in deciding. It looks like you have 3 DQ's in less than 100 challenges which averages out to 1 DQ every 32.67 challenges (98 entered). They are pretty spread out as well with your last one being less than 25 challenges ago.

Richard is correct regarding the self DQ and than the ramifications of getting a normal DQ with in the next 25 challenges you enter if you pull your entry. You get a one week suspension. That's clear. The thing is are you even allowed to do a Self DQ if you got a normal DQ in the PAST 25 challenges. Too tired to look that up right now, but I would do so before making your decision. It may be a moot point as I'm pretty sure you wouldn't pull it knowing you're guaranteed the 1 week suspension.

That's true, if you have a self dq (or an ordinary dq) within the last 25 then you cannot withdraw your entry. Happened to me once when I had a horrible score in the DPL

Thanks....well that would cancel out me getting granted a self DQ then. Anyway after some deliberation have decided not too DQ after all.

I think that you will find that this is a good decision... you'll ultimately learn more from taking the lumps than from pulling it. Been there, done that, LOL.

I would never self DQ for a bad photo...that is part of the fun ! I guess the only reason I would do it is if I entered a photo and didn't have a "release" or had some second thoughts on a nude photo.

Make those decisions BEFORE you submit. Don't remove a photo because it gets bad votes -- learn from the votes and the comments. It really serves no purpose to get your DQ counter bumped up one.
