Just make your usual SEP2 layer, then change layer mode to "luminance" in the layers palette; this keeps the color data of the layer beneath but uses the luminance data from the SEP layer.

Using a slightly modified version of Bear_Music's Forest Floor. A great preset you have there Mr Ward. |

Here's three more using SEP2 as a luminance overlay in CS5 to produce a tonally-rich color image. This is fast becoming my preferred processing workflow. I'll probably outgrow it, but I'm having fun :-)

Like others, I also frequently use a Silver Efex layer in blend mode. I used it in multiply mode on this one to help give it some oomph.

No, it's a custom preset. Send me your e-mail and I'll send it to you. It's my very own work. I have a bunch of 'em...

I feel like I have abandoned the side challenge I started. Some of you have already heard, but I lost ALL of my photos due to a broken hard drive. I have been out shooting again since, but I have had to use most of what I have shot for challenges and I cannot use them to post here.
If you don't mind I would like to have this be an ongoing thread. I didn't specify a month in the title anyway. I am planning on picking up again once I get my portfolio built back up again.

Two versions:
First, one I worked for quite a while, never quite satisfied:
Second, one using Bear_Music's Forest Floor--magical and better than my attempt by Miles and Miles.
Bear_Music rocks! |

Well, thanks! Now play with it and make it your own. In the particular scene, you can pull more structure and luminosity out of those ferny leaves, I bet :-)

Yea, I did tweak it tiny bit, but just wanted to see the straight version first. Not my final version, yet, but an interesting comparison for me. Thanks again, sir! |

Shots from a photo shoot I just did for the band Steve Wexler and The Top Shelf.
I used SEP2 with a pre-set I built that increases the blacks and contrast. Let me know what you think! |
