I just saw something alarming on YouTube about people being able to access information about the location of pics posted online.
I'll try posting a link//www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2vARzvWxwY
Oh, good it works. If you post pics of your kids you need to see this.

I fixed the issue in my kids phones several months ago.

yep, geotagging, new cameras are doing this as well.

what worse is iphones themselves are storing your location. that info can be extracted to show EVERYWHERE you have been with your phone. who knows if other phones do it.

and police in Michigan are downloading phone info at traffic stops without a warrant. they have a device that will download all your data in a matter of seconds.

I don't see how they could do that without a warrant, I would sure fight that.

they coerce you into giving it to them... besides in California you don't need a warrant, if you get stopped for a violation they are allow to search your phone, and now coming back into the US, NSA can take your electronic equipment if they "suspect" it may contain incriminating information.

also to add to my above statement.

Microsoft says they only store the last known location for use with finding your phone and don't collect location information. Google has said that users can opt in to location stored locally but wont wont say if its collected (i think we all know the answer). RIM has yet to respond.

Then not only is Big Brother watching us, but lots of others too. That sure puts me off getting smart phones or similarly enabled cameras. And that's a pity. Like lots of things, good ideas can be put to evil purposes. And if you disable that application, then what was the point of having it?

Just heard this on NPR. I wonder what Apple was thinking...
