Okay I need some feedback to see why this ended up with a below average score on B&W. I have to say I was a bit surprised by the score. I wasn't expecting a really high score on this image, but I did think it would get closer to a mid to high 5. A low 5 to me says this isn't any better than a snapshot, I just don't see it, so I need help. |

When you get down in that range (mind-5's) scores cease to have meaning. After all, 5.4+ IS a "mid-5" score, you can't make a meaningful distinction between that and 5.5+... What it all comes down to, in that range, is individual preference. Your score is telling you people didn't particularly relate to a decently-crafted image of cows grazing a messy field.
You mentioned "snapshot" above; that's exactly what this appears to be; a well-processed snapshot. You might try coming at it from a different direction, and tell us what, in your mind, elevates the image above "snapshot", besides the processing.

Another overlay of SEP2 in luminance mode. |

I have to tell you also that I think pre-processed borders like those available in SEP are a kind of turn off for some voters. They make the image appear contrived. |

Well, I'll debate that with you. You know what appears "contrived" to me? I'll tell you: images that have clean, rectangular edges, all neat and tidy. Life's not like that. Back in the film days I always loved the images that were printed with the film borders showing, and I'm having a great time working with these new ragged borders, which are fully customizable in SEP2.
They're not really pre-processed; you pick from what amounts to a style gallery, then sort of spin the wheel, and keep spinning until one that works for your image shows up; then you can adjust the smoothness/roughness, the overlap, and the width to precisely what you want them to be. So there's a lot of artist input available, if you care to exercise it.

Life may not be like that, but a real-world print on a piece of paper sure is. ;-) |

Not if you print them with borders like this :-)

Another case of using SEP2 as a luminance overlay. |

Left you a comment on the image itself. :)

I hope you don't mind if I intrude...
I was at the beach in Rhode Island today. This is how it felt to me out there.
