| What is the "best" camera that i can still use my lenses on? Ok so I have a canon 350D that is starting to show its age, its still a decent camera, but I want to get something better eventually. So im wondering which is the newest canon camera that can still use the lenses i currently own? I only have 2 at the moment, one is a tamron 17-55mm, and the other is a sigma 10-20mm. Ive seen some Canon 1D Mark II's for very decent prices, but I dont know how to tell if my lenses will work. Can someone explain this to me? |

You can use any lens that isn't an S on any camera in the Canon line. Which is the best depends on what you like to shoot, basically buffer clearing speed versus sensor size.
The basic quality runs by the number of digits in the model. The 1 is top of the line, then the 5&7, then the 2 digits 10-60, then the 3 digit models. If had your gear and had the 6k to buy a mark II, I would buy a lesser body and get some better glass. A Mark with those lenses will not make as good an image as your current body with great lenses.
I'm not knocking the lenses you have, but having a much better body than lens doesn't make much sense.

Agreed...
But, a 50/60D or even the newest Rebel is going to be a significant improvement over the 350D.

I agree with BrennanOB that you should look at a moderately-priced modern body, which will still be a really big upgrade from the 350D, and put some money toward better glass. If you really want to see how your camera can perform, try a good inexpensive general-purpose prime lens like the Canon 50/1.8 or 50/1.4 |

Yup... or the 85mm f/1.8, which has beautiful bokeh.

| I know the 350D can take some great shots, but mine is nearing the end of its life. I figured it was time to upgrade a bit. And I agree about the 85mm, thats one of my next "to get" lenses. |

| The best camera you can use your lenses on is the one you have with you. :D |
