Several years ago my husband and I were on vacation in Maine and trying to explore the shoreline along US1. On this particular day we had gone to Bar Harbor and then headed on down to Freeport area. We are trying to find an Inn that we saw on that day. It was on the open water, had kayaks/small boats, cabins/cottages that lined the property on both sides as I remember. These cottages were more like small homes, they are 2 story houses. There were 8/12 homes/cottages on each side of the property. The Inn was 3 stories high and made of wood. And was in the center and sat up highest on the property. The shore had pebbles not large rocks. And lots of small water crafts. Sail boats, kayaks, flats boats and canoes.
I have a picture if I can figure out my scanner then I'll post it.
Just thought we'd as ya'll if you knew this place. I think it is between Camden and Rockland. It was also on a secondary (small) road. Not on US1, but just off of it. |

I've never been to Maine but have you tried Google Earth or Google Street View? |

yes, we've been looking now for 2 days, the property is very distinct as it is laid out in a U shape. So the rooftops should be very visible. As would be the shoreline |

Ok.. you just described, in general, about 150 different places on the coast.. If you could give me a bit more of an idea of where you were, I may be able to help. Did you actually go from Bar Harbor all the way to Freeport on RT1? If you did it would have taken about 5 hours without stops, many more with.. So do you think you could remember if it was early in the day or not(or tell by the pics?)
I'd love to help you figure this out. Or, you could just come back and visit again!!!! |

Glad you found it. It looks a little north of your original target area, almost in Belfast :-) |

I've spent quite abit of time in the Rockland to Acadia areas over the years but I'm not specifically familiar with Bayside. It looks like a nice spot though |
