Hey bergie..
The top lens is just for composing. If it is scratched, that is no problem as the image is exposed through the bottom lens.
Regarding the 3A... It's that A122 film. It is 3 1/4" wide. Finding a proper reel or tank to load that on at home will be difficult. It is such an odd size.

OMG...I found and have purchased metal spools and film...only to find out that this film also works in the Jiffy Kodak I got...that has film in it right now!!!
But, not sure if it's old color film or black and white. I'll shoot it to see how the camera works (no clue, lol) and then develop to see how things look as the film itself might be total crap. The roll is at the beginning! I'm in heaven...thanks for the info and help.
*** I'll be back! ;~)

Here's part II of my documentary about people and places in the region of Narodichi district in Ukraine, situated about 80km West of the city of Chernobyl.
People still deal with sicknesses, lack of employment and infrastructure, alcohol, half abandoned cities...
Part III will follow on the 26th of April.

In case you missed the original post, I managed to "publish" the whole set (see below).
It is my third documentary that I covered entirely on film! :)
I still have tons of analog stuff to upload from the trip so stay tuned for more. |

Its a great series Mephisto. So far away from here. In a strange way it almost looks like a peaceful life. I recall your Gypsy series too. You must have a unique ability disarm your subjects. The photos are so personal, or something like that.

i guess that's what i was trying to accomplish with this series.
there's a strong presence of the connection yet ambivalence between the beauty and peacefulness with its abandonment and desolateness of the place, only hinting on its connection to its historic background.
and i don't disarm my subjects, but rather i try to disarm myself when i do documentary photography in the sense of that i will try to make people forget that i have a big fucking camera hanging around my neck when i'm present. ;) |

A little group I manage on Flickr dedicated to a very special class of toy film cameras. I'm rather plaesed with how the pool's been looking:

Fun pool! Someone should start branding those lenses with fake "L"s and "T*"s designations to improve "sharpness". ;) |

Sorry for all the waterfall photos, but I had a fun day last Sunday. Stronger now too after hauling around five film cams and a digital.
