I recently had a positive repair experience with United Camera that I wanted to share.
I had shipped off my Pentax flash to them for the repair of a broken battery door. They are on Pentax's list of authorized repair centers, and their online price estimator set a very reasonable estimate for the repair.
I received and email confirming that it had been received, and was able to track online its repair status. When it was apparent that this was going to take longer than I had hoped (seemed to be stuck in "waiting for assignment to a repair technician"), I called to see if they had a feel for when it would be available. I had an event coming up the next week, and if it wasn't going to be back in time, I would have to make arrangements for a loaner. The person on the phone was quite helpful, and said that she would check in and she could get an estimate on when it would be worked.
The next day, I receive an email that it had been repaired and was being returned. I received it last Monday, and it is as good as new.
It's not all that often anymore you get real support from a customer service rep. I thought this might be of interest to others, in case anyone else is looking for an option for out-of-warranty repairs.
