I'd be surprised to see anyone with a lower average even with all low scores reported here. My entry was literally last minute and I thought the voters will recognize the idiom (there are other "problems" with my entry but I will put this aside)

I keep on getting caught out on the differences between the British English with its traditional phrases and American English which has departed over the years significantly from the Shakespeare original. In our business we had students sending angry emails that they found spelling mistakes. One was even from an American English language teacher who told us that "enquiry" should be spelled with "i" as in "inquiry". My husband wrote the courses and he is originally from England. We finished rewriting all our courses into American English and use now American spelling everywhere in our business. So far we did not get any angry emails from our British students telling us that "inquiry" starts with "e" ;)

But coming back to the original problem I have a request to our American members who are a significant majority at DPC - please, oh please, check Oxford Dictionary or even Google for the meaning of the image title before you vote 1.

PS I have only been here for 5 months but I am already starting to develop a conspiracy theory ;) I really think that some of the new members are much harsher with scores. I have seen someone with an average of 3.2 after a few hundred votes. I suspect there are more newbies doing just that - voting many 1s and 2s. But then it could be just another conspiracy theory :)

Looks like it is all kicking off over on the Weston challenge!

I think I've noticed some strange voting patterns on a couple of recent challenges but put it down to my skills.

Apart from Westongate, has anyone notice anything amiss with their Chips results or other challenges come to that?

I'll just misquote a certian Colonial Captain Parker (from the Ancient Order of DPCers):

I just finished voting and I tell ya...this one was bad ! I gave some high scores but that was in relation to the other "chip" photos...not in relation to DPC challenge photos in general. I gave one 10 because although it wasn't great, it was better than the rest.

I should have entered this one...maybe I could have made the top 10...but then again....
