I've got the greatest idea for this one... Just spent most of the day ordering photo props. I haven't been this excited about a challenge in a long time. Hopefully my props will get here on time and I'll be able to take a decent shot. Of course, I can't share what the idea is, but I had to share my excitement! :)

I have 1000 ideas. As to what will win...that will take some mroe thought. Unfortunately, but the time i get a great idea, the time is about up and there is no way to implement it.

Now how to get 11 nuns and a male stripper together...

That pic was in the paper yesterday. Taken last Sunday before the service it was.

The annual dog show is this weekend, thousands of dogs in the local convention center. So this begs the question, does my camera have sufficient shutter speed to capture the cat i drop into the show ring while it is still recognizeable as a cat?

I'm wondering if people would find a cat in the microwave as out-of-place or quite normal.

Ideas are easy (see the m&m shot in orange for one). Good artsy winning type of shots are MUCH tougher. And if you get an idea, actually taking the pic and taking it well are tougher yet. I drove around for 3 days, I mean like 6 or 7 hours total driving to find the sign for my Silence entry. My Conflict entry, is in my opinion, very poorly implemented. And my original idea for Conflict might have won - two men, one black one shite, in profile yelling at eachother - a cross between the winning and second place pics. An idea is only one part of a successful picture. I like the idea for my orange entry, or at least more than the ideas i did not pursue. It is not doing well (3.6!), i think for focus reasons (too few comments to know) but who knows.

Out of Place should give us a very wide range of things to look at though!

Ideas...6 car headlights and a breats. apples and an orange. chocolate syrup on an omelette, a mall parking lot - goo looking for 3 white cars and a red one or 3 cans and a car, or anything similar. twins and a non twin (or dogs, fish, etc). Flowers, an every popular subject here. 11 red roses and one of another color. A 70 year old man on a college campus carrying books.

Perhaps I can get my wife to ride her bicycle in morning rush hour traffic on the highway. If i stand on an overpass i can get a relly good shot..and if she gets run down, i win twice! LOL

I have the perfect Out of Place idea: a picture of a (cat) (flower) (sunset) (child) with a DPC blue ribbon next to it.

At first I thought I was going to sit out of this challenge....and then I thought of something sooo out of place. I hope I can get the right angle, lighting, etc. to carry out my idea. Still new here and not rating very well. But please keep the comments coming, I do appreciate them.

I couldn't agree more. My first idea for orange was to have three circles of paint, one red, one orange (in the middle), and one yellow. From the red a thin line of paint curving to the orange cirlce and from the yellow a thin line of yellow paint symetrically curving to the orange. The paint wouldn't be brushed on. It would be tempera squeezed out of a bottle so that it would look smooth and have dimension.

Example:

So I went out and bought some bright white background, some yellow, orange, and red tempera, set everything up, made a huge mess, threw everything away, and entered something else.

I'm hoping to see some cats tied to the railroad tracks for this one!!!

Well, not really, but that would be funny!

Two though, so they'd be parallel.

Sorry, wrong challenge.
