Yesterday was a strange, interesting, killer day. We had gone to my parents for the weekend for a family get together, but had to leave before dawn to get back for church. The rain that accompanied us when we left had turned to snow by the time we made it home an hour and a half later. When we got to church, there was a thin, white layer on every thing.

As the day progressed, the temperatures warmed up inside and out, especially down in San Antonio where the VCU Rams torched #1 seed Kansas for their first ever trip to the NCAA Final Four. Ramnation (as the VCU faithful refer to themselves) took to the streets of downtown Richmond for a delightfully insane celebration. I couldn't help but head out and join the crowd.

Everybody keeps doubting the Rams, saying they didn't belong, saying that each game will be their last, and every time out they've played not above their level, but above the level of their opponent. The experts and the odds-makers don't hold out any hope, but these guys don't seem to really care. In the past two weeks they have beat a top team from the PAC-10 (USC), the Big East (Georgetown), the Big Ten (Purdue), the ACC (Florida State), and the Big 12 (Kansas).

It's going to be a crazy week here in Richmond, Va; regardless of how next weekend turns out, these guys have already left an indelible mark.

I wish I was going to Houston, that's not in the cards. Maybe next year ;-)

I filled out a bracket just before the Sweet 16 and I have VCU playing us (UK) in the finals. Could happen...

Wasn't this the year that practically all the "experts" thought there was a great chance for all four #1 seeds to make it to the Final Four?

well, the Bracketoligist in Chief certainly picked all the number ones ;-)

except for a handful of blow-outs, there's been some really great basketball. bunch of OT's and last second shots. i'm pretty amazed that there hasn't been anything going on here at dpc...no brackets, no smack talk, nothing.
