Fine Arts:Exhibit2 - Try to make a contribution to contemporary photographic art with your entry.

I can't seem to come up with any ideas for the contemporary part of the description.

You just gave me an idea, thanks.

Some of my picks overlap with one or both, but very few are my favs. Art seems to be so subjective. I am not sure if I will vote at all. I have very mixed feelings about this challenge at the moment. I will enter with zero expectation.

The judges didn't align either. It's very subjective, and that's the fun of it. Make your own picks for Fine Arts II.

Why would you not vote? Your opinion is just as worthless as anyone else's here.

I wouldn't go that far. I am just having problems with consistent criteria.

I think the point of fine art is that there is no consistent criteria.
Vote high for whatever prompts you to vote high, and vote low for those that don't. Even if you end up voting a "poor" image higher than a really high quality one, that doesn't matter. With fine arts, I think you vote based on how you feel a connection to the photograph, and not all images are going to do that

From Wiki... Contemporary art can be defined variously as art produced at this present point in time or art produced since World War II. The definition of the word contemporary would support the first view, but museums of contemporary art commonly define their collections as consisting of art produced since World War II.

Thanks. For the record, I wasn't excluding myself.

I have submitted a challenge entry. I like it. No one will guess it's mine. Not a lot of investment of time in this project. More time wouldn't help me in a Fine Art challenge. LOL!!!!

I actually think I have an entry for this challenge - i am shocked.

I think anyone can find something for this challenge. Fine art can be found almost everywhere we look... The problem is, how we look at it.

I worked out my voting system for this challenge - my scale will be 8 to 10 and I will only vote on images I like. If this means my votes won't count I don't mind.

I hope you don't like mine. I'd hate to lose my high score if you don't make 20%. :(

You are right. On the Fine Arts challenge I will vote in the range 6 to 10 to ensure that this does not happen. The problem with voting in this challenge is that if a photo breaks composition rules, is out of focus, is noisy, makes it unclear what the subject is, shows something unpleasant etc, these may be intentional. In the artist's vision anything goes so how can I be the judge. Not liking the image is not good enough reason to score it low.

Of course it is! What is art, if not subjective? Give good scores to the images that work for you, bad scores to the ones that fail utterly in your eyes, and in-between scores to the ones that seem well-aimed, even if they ultimately don't hit your personal mark.
