I'm remaking a logo and can't seem to get the text to do what I want.

I'm using SC3

I have a central image that I want to wrap some text around in a circle. I can type the text and I can make it an arch...but I can't get it to rotate around a central point turning it into a circle.

How the heck can I do this...is it possible in CS3?

Thanks.

I don't know if it is possible to directly get the whole circle. You can get half a circle, by selecting Edit>Transform>Warp and selecting "Arc." Set the "Bend" parameter to 100%. You can achieve a complete circle by using two arcs.

I'll try that and see what happens...do you know of any other way to do this?

That's the way I've always done it, but then again I rarely need to do it!

If you actually have the Creative Suite you can use Illustrator (or any other vector illustration program) for this. There are also some stand-alone programs for making "fancy" text, but I don't know the names of any current ones off-hand.

If you have a LightScribe-capable disc burner, they usually come with a layout program which can wrap the text around a circle; the one I have can then export the text as a PDF or BMP graphic.

I didn't read the eHow article (eHow is on my black list) but Adobe has a tutorial that probably uses the same process. Essentially, use the ellipse tool (not the elliptical marquee tool) to create a circular path, then just click and type on the path. Really simple. Wonder why I never discovered this!

Damn, that's easy... just played around a little (work avoidance), and this is a technique I will definitely remember!

i am totally clueless as well when it comes to manipulating text in photoshop. i just use microsoft powerpoint and insert WordArt in it, which allow you to do so some fancy text designs. the text would be flattened when you paste it to photoshop, so i make sure i create a reasonably large wordart object to minimize pixelation during resizing. i also use solid black text color for easier layer selection and manipulation in ps.

maybe i just need to discover a better and more efficient method, but that's how i do it.

ETA:

Whoa! So there was indeed a better method :) thanks for the link.
