Too much fun! Shot a couple with the monopod at arm's length just now:

Here's how I used my "ghetto boom" used to get a different perspective.

I used a wireless remote so that I wouldn't have to rely on just one shot and to not be pressured by a timer. Using a wireless remote can also enable the camera to autofocus just before the image is captured.

These 'pole' cameras were widely used in the late 80s and through the 90s to take photos of crop circles in the UK. Busty Taylor was well known for his pole setup. I am sure they are still used today and a quick search reveals his website.

Sure, here ya go:

While far higher than the usual monopod approach, it's sobering to think that this may be only half the height of the Japan tsunami!

I have a mini-tripod I got at REI which has a Velvro strap specifically for securing it to a post or rail -- I could use that to fasten it to any handy pole or branch ... it's always in the bottom of my camera bag.

Looks like you have a very long arm.

Thanks. It was that connector part I couldn't follow in the description. This helps.

Well, the monopod fully extended is about 6 feet. My arm fully extended upwards tops out at about 7 feet. So arm+monopod should be something like 10-12 feet off the ground, I figure :-)
