| Does anyone know if the D700 can read a 32G CF? I recently bought one and the camera freaked out. Shot a few images then got an error message. When I looked (both in camera and on a laptop), there was only gibberish. |

I found this forum posting:
D700 with 32GB Card
Perhaps that will help.
The first thing I'd do is check my camera's firmware version and update it to the current level before doing anything else.

| Thanks. If I'm reading it correctly, that post says there should be no problem with the 32gb, and that firmware will increase storage acceptance to 64 gb. Thus I should have had no problems with the 32 gb card I got. Which FAILED epically. |

Can I ask what brand and type of card this was? Also, here are a couple things to try...
1) If you didn't already, format the card in the camera. Does that alleviate the failure?
2) Exercise the card using a computer, including repeated writes and reads of large blocks of files. Does the card fail in this situation? |

Here is a piece of advice you can take to the bank...
Anything I ever say is superseded by anything kirbic later says. I call it "The Kirbic Axiom" and it pretty much applies to just about anything anyone else ever says to.
I still like my suggestion, though. You should always keep camera firmware current.
