Hi everyone. Just wanted to share my camera related news. I just bought a Nikon D700 and the Nikon 28-300 f3.5/5.6 to go with it.

Yes this is considerably more camera than my skill level warrants, but, like I told my wife, I want a camera I can grow into instead of one I grow out of. I worked a ton of overtime and have a ton more on the horizon so I decided to treat myself. I did a lot of research and it came down to the D700 and the 5D MII (not a surprise I'm sure) but the ISO performance and the fact that my wife is an entrenched and long time Nikon user convinced me to go with the D700.

I can't wait till it gets here. Estimated delivery is Thursday, I'm dying here. So if any other D700 users have any tips, tricks, or advice let me know.

Also, and this is not the point of this thread but I will mention it anyway. I am selling all my old Oly gear, shoot me a PM for info.

P.S. I'm sure my score will go shooting up as a result, maybe I'll average 5.2. :D

Oh and so you all know: Amazon is offering a very good deal on select lenses when you purchase a Nikon body. I got my 28-300 for $644 dollars. :O

I believe B&H is matching the lense offers.

Yeah, I am just now experimenting with lights. I recently bought (I hate overtime, but I love toys) an inexpensive ($225 for a set of 3) continuous softbox lights from Amazon. I am loving them so far, fun and easy to use, they're great for portraits of the kids.

Sorry, I think I relegated wrong as now they are listed at $275. Maybe they were on sale when I bought them because I really thought I paid $225, still a good price
