I have been asked to shoot the commencement ceremony for my son's former high school. It's a very small, non-profit, private school with a graduating class of about 40-50 kids and a VERY limited budget. I shot it two years ago and it really didn't work out well for me at all because I relied solely on post-ceremony print sales and didn't have any good way to push sales once the ceremony was over. Part of that gig was also used to cover $200 worth of volunteer hours I owed the school as part of my son's tuition.
In general, I don't really want the school to have to pay - I want the parents to pay, so here is what I am thinking: Charge the school $500, create PRE-Order forms and have the school collect the money well in advance and I will share 75% of the pre-order sales with the school (up to the $500). So if they can get around 30 families to spend an average of $25 in preorders, the school would end up getting their $500 back.
How does this sound? Does anyone have a better idea? Am I way off base on my pricing? Thoughts??? |

pm'd you.
also, you can up the ante by offering a graduation day memory book, filled with candids and such, as well as an animoto video on dvd...The main thing is the pre-sale connection, capturing email addresses of all the parents so that you have some means of reaching them directly.
