I have lost over 1 whole point since this challenge began. I know I'm not the only one to see such a steep drop. My question is....why?! Are the numerous trolls out there really so stupid as to believe that voting everyone else down will make their score go up?! Guess what, doesn't work that way. You vote others down, you piss them off, and oh yes you WILL get voted down in turn. Been here almost 5 years now and trust me, it's true.
As an aside...hey it's one year ago that I won what probably be my only ever ribbon. It started in the high 6s and never really went down, only up. Too bad history isn't repeating itself.
Off to vote now and hopefully start a reversal of this nasty voting trend.
Who's with me? Who else here is big enough to give out a high score to entries better than yours? |

I have one of those nagging consciences that won't let me vote down good photos just to prop my own photo up. I also try to vote early before I know what my score will actually be, then I leave it alone.
I don't know how many times I have started with one score only to have it drop a whole point later, I think a lot of the early votes are people quickly going through and voting for the ones they like the most. Then reality sets in when the rest of the voters come through. I never count on a score till it reaches 100 votes and even then well its no guarantee. |

LOL! Already did. I also lost close to a whole point. Just barely hanging onto a 5 now. I didn't expect a high score though, knowing it's not everyone's cup'o tea.
You have rated 55 of 55 images (100%) in this challenge.

Everyones better than mine LOL... I have never seen giveing out good scores to lower mine. It don't work that way, and I do not hold to voteing someone else lower than I should. I think in EXPERT EDITING, you should get a 10 just for trying... Hear that voters huh hummm how about it... LOL ;p |

You just made my morning, littlemav! And no fear, I'd never even think you'd be the sort to dish out bad scores. As for the expert editing, I haven't looked at all the entries yet, but this was a speed challenge. Wonder who'd be able to come up with a shot, and then spend a good amount of time doing Expert editing? Not me! :-) |

I've often wondered if that's why voting is lower on some expert editing challenges -- perhaps people are expecting you to use expert editing and are disappointed when you don't?

I used expert editing in a sense that i went beyond the advanced editing rules. But no way my entry was a work of an expert. And i have three comments that actually confirm that :)

Wondering that too, Wendy. Are people expecting images several layers seamlessly blended together, as we saw in the Mythological Creatures challenge? So far I've only seen 2 entries that had obvious multiple captures. And it was a speed challenge, leaving little time (IMHO) for the luxury of hours and hours of PS. |

Not only that it was a speed challenge on Valentines Day, I don't know about everyone else, but I didn't have a ton of time to shoot my subject and spend a lot of editing. I had other things going on that day. I did do a little bit that involved expert editing but no merging of pictures or anything like that, I had to be realistic and do something I knew I had time for. I'm getting a decent score though, so I am not going to complain too much.

Regarding Expert speed challenges;
The definition of "expert" is "X" is the unknown factor and a "spurt" is a drip under pressure. |
