I was just looking at a high school's photography club photos. They had photos of sadness. Wow, there were some powerful photos on that wall!

I like the idea. Would you limit it to people, or include animals, or even include inanimate objects?

I would think that it could be anything that evokes sadness. Some people would find a trash covered beach to be sad, one picture that I saw this evening was a portrait of someone crying, but it was just cropped to half of her face. For some reason that crop, with negative space on the right, and looking into that negative space was extremely poignant. A droopy faced coon hound behind bars at the humane society. Of course, I think in cliches, so that's what I'm coming up with at the moment.

I think limiting it to people would be too limiting. :)

For people who don't like sad photos, there could be a companion happy challenge.

I like this. Many might say that we should not limit it to anything other than individual creativity. But putting everyone on the same page is sometimes also helpful. Either way, i like this challenge.

I like the idea - especially if it is countered by happy. I am also all for not having any challenge description for concept challenges such as this.

Sounds like a great idea. I bet the sadness photos would be more interesting than the happiness photos.
