I have 2 Kata bags at the moment - DT211 (small front bag, great for cycle touring) and 3N1-22 sling type bag. Unfortunately I found sling did not work well for me (too heavy and bulky), I prefer DT211 for wearing in front. I am looking to replace 3N1-22 with a bag that is:
- lightweight - max 1.2kg
- will nicely fit 550D with 70-200mm f4 lens attached (that's the problem with 3N1-22, it will not fit properly) plus a couple of smaller lenses
- overall is small and comfortable to carry, smaller than airlines allow as cabin luggage

I have been looking at KATA DL-210 Bumblebee. The design is pretty close to what I am after. Is it a good choice? Any good quality alternatives?

I have decided that looking for the perfect camera bag is a bit of a quest for the Holy Grail. I've bought and returned three different bags after loading everything into them and trying them out. Besides, what may be perfect for me may not work for you, and vice versa.

Hi,
I had a look at the KATA DL-210 today. Did you end up buying this bag? What are your thoughts?
Are there any other alternatives?
I will start my own thread so I dont hijack yours, but I would appreciate your thoughts on the bad.

cheers
Jules

Hi, Jules, I have got it but haven't used yet. I like the features although it will not fit 550D with 70-200mm f4 lens attached. I can fit the 70-200mm lens separately and 550D with 15-85mm attached. Plus few smaller lenses and accessories. I also like that I can connect it with the torso pack (DT 211) for day hikes. Otherwise I will be using it for plane travel. It is a perfect size for me for cabin luggage. What would you like to use it for?

I have the Tamrac ADVENTURE 75 BACKPACK and love it. It's my second Tamrac and they are pretty solid. Excuse the crappy iphone pic:

I've had this one for about a year, I still have my older smaller Tamrac bag too that I use if I only need a couple things.

We are flying to vancouver shortly.
We have;
2 x bodies 450d and 500d
2 x kits lens 18 - 55
1 x 70 - 200
1 x 70 - 300

SO im looking for something that can hold this kit, and I can take on the plane. Additionally I would like not to have to buy a new bag once we land, so it would be great to be able to use it for a day pack (1 body + kit lens + 70 - 300), bonus points if it fits on my back while riding a motorbike :)
I did check out the dl-210 and could fit the two bodies and all lenses into the camera section of the back, the top section does appear to have a decent amount of room and definitely will pass the airport test.

I am wondering if the UL-222 will be too big for the airport carry on hand luggage test? The extra space this seems to offer looks more appealing, especially once I get a flash + other accessories.

I would love to hear your thoughts...

Yes, I looked at UL-222 specs but it was too bulky and too heavy for my needs. It is also much more expensive.
