Rain! Rain! Go Away!
No Sentinel Shot Today :( |

I really hate the fact that I can't seem to communicate clearly. Sentinel... Entitled Sentinel, having Sentinel in the title. I really didn't mean that you literally have to call your shot Sentinel. But I thought it should be used in the title somehow to expand the search results for the word Sentinel.
Unfortunately, my wife gets me on this failure to communicate every time... To me, it's just a minor technicality. But I can see how it causes problems with understanding.
Sorry 'bout that! I do love how people can argue about every jot and tittle though. It's all so serious and important! |

It's not your failure to communicate. No matter how well you try to convey it, people will read it trying to anticipate what the shoehorns an DNMC's are going to be. Just look at my suggestion of the military challenge. My description was "anything military in nature" I thought that was pretty clear. Someone entered a fern leaf at attention. Military in NATURE was how they read it.

Not really a problem with your communication. And, I don't think it's people trying to squeeze in shoehorn entries. Recently, we've had voters who seem more interested in any reason to vote low on images in competition with their own. Yes, an entry should generally meet the challenge description to score well. That doesn't mean a submission needs to meet a tinier "eye of the needle" than was originally intended by the challenge description. The challenge subject is very good. I've shot every day for this challenge since it was announced because it conjures up many good subjects for me. Thanks for suggesting the idea! |

@ Yo_Spiff: Yeah. Sooo funny! But it was a very clever interpretation!
@ hahn23: Do you think it's only recently?? Go back to the first challenge and see how many one votes there were on the 9 images entered... too funny! |

Your communication seems clear to me. |

To be honest most of the folks in this thread have been goofing around regarding the title. At least I have been. But now it's clear based on your last post that the title must NOT include the word Sentinel. All others will receive 1s. Noted. |

I will be playing it safe while voting:
- If the title contains the word, "Sentinel", I will vote 1.
- If the title does not contain the word, "Sentinel", I will vote 1. |

And if there IS no title? A 10?

I think that's the only solution. :-D |

"Your title must contain at least 1 letter or number." |

Still a 1, because then it shows up with a title of "Untitled".

If all entries used the same word as or in the title, it would make for a painful collection.
It could diminish the overall presentation of any given image by removing the potential creative attribute of the title.
I cannot imagine any plausible reason for a prescription to conform and can only believe the present wording to be unintentional.
I have, however, reasons for NOT using the challenge title for my own entry. You do the math.

I think the choice of title will be a "damned if you do and damned if you don't" kind of thing.

I'm still sticking with sentinel -- I like when they take the title out of my hands! Do it more often!!!

I can do titles, it's the photos that are the problem. When are we going to have a title competition for a stock photo? |

My entry will either be "An Sentinel" or "Sentinel - ".
Willing to risk people marking me down for the right to name my own creation what I want. |

I think vawendy should start her own "Name My Entry" competition. This is the second time in this thread she's expressed her hatred of having to come up with a title. ;) |

By now I can do neither the title nor the photo!
I'll go and take photos of some dirty dishes instead :) |

Nah... a single period will do. Or an ellipsis: ... I want an automatic 10 for my ellipsis.

That's how I'll use the "help!! which one!" thread!! I've entered 217 challenges. I think I've liked my titles for 4 challenges. :)
